Obit For Hettie Loriot- Maggard's Mtn. View Chapel

Hettie Begley Loriot, December 30, 1917 -- July 19, 2017 went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a long life of charity for her fellow humans and family. Born to Bradley & Myrtle Wooton Begley at Bowlingtown, Perry County, Kentucky: where Buckhorn Lake now is. She graduated from Witherspoon College, now Buckhorn High School, where she was known as "Mom Het". She helped to raise her younger brothers and sisters: June, John Granville, Leslie Dale and Winnie. She ventured off to be a missionary. First in Perry County under Margaret Sproul with Scripture Memory Mountain Mission and at Camp Nathanael in Emmalena, Kentucky. Then while training for her Bible Missions Certificate at Northwestern Bible College in Saint Paul, Minnesota, she determined to be a foreign missionary linguist with Wycliffe Bible Translators in their new community venture in Yarinacocha, Eastern Peru, South America. With two summer’s linguistic training and a year of further medical missionary training she became one of six women supported by Southeastern Kentucky Sunday schools sponsored by Camp Nathanael. In Peru she married Jim Loriot a fellow linguist, who transformed Bible translation through the practice of discourse analysis: studying legends to understand rules of conversing and to better translate.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters and brothers Rinda Stacey, Lance Begley, Prentice Begley (survived by Isobel), Bert & Joel Begley, June Terry, John Granville Begley (survived by Effie), Leslie Dale Begley (survived by Modeane) and Winnie Whitaker; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children Bradwin E L Lauriault, Phoenix AZ; Susan M Parker (Gary), Lexington KY; Cliff R Loriot (Becky), Winston-Salem NC; Leonard M L Lauriault (Lisa), Tucumcari NM; and Margaret G Campbell (James), Hazard KY; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Donations suggested to Wycliffe Bible Translators Supplemental Retirement Fund, 11211 John Wycliffe Blvd., Orlando, FL 32832; Or to Scripture Memory Mountain Mission, PO BOX 129, Emmalena, KY 41740.

She lived by 1 Corinthians 13 where "Love is patient and kind.... It endures through every circumstance."
