Obituary for Ann Gabbard Stanford

Ann Gabbard Stanford, age 70, of Hazard, KY passed away November 23, 2017 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center. She was the daughter of the late Elmer Gabbard and the late Juanita Smith Gabbard. She is also preceded in death by her husband: David Stanford; one brother: James Paul Gabbard and one nephew: Brian Adam Gabbard.

Ann was a dedicated elementary teacher for the Hazard Independent School Systam, where she proudly and with love, taught for 35 years. Ann was also a member of the Petrey Memorial Baptist Church where she served the Lord as a Sunday School Teacher and Children's Church Director. Ann was beloved by the children at church and help to set them on a path towards Jesus.

She is survived by one daughter: Jennifer (Lucius) Willson of Corbin, KY; two granddaughters: Kaitlin Ann & Madison Elizabeth Willson of Corbin, KY; one sister: Peggy (Glenn) Riggs of Hazard, KY; two brothers: Elmer (Vickie) Gabbard and Glenn (Cheryl) Gabbard both of Hazard, KY; sister-in-law: Marianna Moore of Lexington, KY and a host of nieces, nephews, family & friends.

Ann leaves behind a legacy of loving and educating many children over the years. She taught them their ABC's as well as molded them into their future selves. May her legacy live on through the lives of the people and children she touched.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Paige Hays Scholarship Fund at Hazard High School or to the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center.
